There are a small handful of LS based engine builds in the high 900 hp naturally aspirated, but most all (if not all of them) are using aftermarket blocks, heads, rotating assembly, intakes, valvetrain, etc. It will require a canted valve cylinder head to make that much naturally aspirated hp. The LS2 6.0L is a 400hp-400ft/lbs torque V8 engine. I drove this at across country, after buying it, and I averaged 77.7 mph and had 25.65 mpg over the length of the trip. This is, btw, my current daily driver. Power is present almost from the drop of the clutch and really pulls from 3000–6700 rpms. The engine has a very distinct exhaust note.. Web.

The LS7 block and rotating assembly are strong. Naturally aspirated and low-boost engines don't require any upgrades. However, you will need to start making changes around 700 whp. The stock pistons are good up to about 750 hp. The stock titanium rods are good to around 850 hp. The block and the crankshaft will handle about 1,000 hp. Web. This LS3 will be running a high 13:1 compression ratio and a 415 ci displacement, supported by clean-burning E85 fuel. According to Kojima, their 4-inch stroke is the same as the factory LS7 and has no issues. He advises not to use more than a 4-inch stroke due to piston instability and clearance issues with block for standard applications.
